Makes about 50 cookies
2 c butter (that's one whole pound)
1 c confectioners sugar
2 tsp vanilla
3 c flour
1 c cornstarch
1 and 1/3 c chocolate chips
1 c chopped red candied cherries
Preheat oven to 300. Beat butter on medium speed until light. Gradually add confectioners sugar and vanilla, beating until creamy. Add flour and conrnstart and beat until smooth. Stir in chocolate chips and cherries. Drop dough by teaspoonful (we kind of roll it into balls) onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in the center of a 300 degree oven for about 23 minutes. Watch carefully after about 21 minutes, as you want to take these out before they brown too much. They should just color lightly around the base.
